6-Week Metal Art Class Offered by New River Community and Technical College

According to The Register-Herald in a story published on May 19, 2013, New River Community and Technical College will be offering a 6-week metal art class.

“New River Community and Technical College will offer a unique metal art class staring June 3. The class combines metalworking with imagination in a safe and fun environment at New River’s welding facility at the Advanced Technology Center in Ghent.” according to the Register-Herald.

According to the story, the six-week course will teach students how to use an oxy-acetylene torch as well as a plasma cutter along with welding basics using a variety of welding techniques and welders. Students in the course will create and complete a project to take home.
The metalworking art class will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays for six weeks ending July 8. Tuition includes materials and the use of metalworking machinery, personal protective equipment. Tuition is $400 for the course. Upon completing the metalworking art class, each student will possess basic metal cutting and welding knowledge as well as the ability to take ideas through the process to completed metal art.
Brad Veneri, a faculty member at New River welding facility will be teaching the metalworking art class. Mr. Veneris is an American Welding Society Certified Welding Educator and Certified Assistant Welding Inspecter with over 20 years of welding experience. His experience comes from both employer and employee positions. Mr Veneri also has an associate of applied science degree in welding technology from WVU at Parkersburg.
This metal art class is limited to 10 students, so if interested, contact New River’s Office of Workforce Education at 304-883-2446 to register as soon as possible. Preregistration is required and due to limited space, openings will go fast.
